Why am I here? Now isn’t that a question. Here we are sitting at month 9 on the race. Only two months left and then I’m back off to the States. Since being here my “why” has changed quite a bit. Originally back before I left the States, my main response was for God to show me what it is like to do his work as a woman of God outside of my comforts.

I am here because God chose me and I made the choice to be obedient. Everyday the choice must be made to stay or go. Yeah, sure I may be here physically no matter what. The choice must also be made for me to  mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually be here. I asked God to show me His people and kingdom and that is exactly what he has done. I wanted Him to show me the needs that are around, to open my eyes, heart, and mind to the blindness this world and even the American Church can bring.

I am here because I want to be a disciple for Jesus Christ. New and old disciples alike  need to be taught, trained, and encouraged. Which is an opportunity I get to see and do everyday. It’s not something I’m going to stop doing when I get home either. As disciples this is work we are meant to continue doing our entire lives. No matter age, place, gender, or occupation. God didn’t say for only the Pastor, deacon, or evangelist to do the work. He told us ALL to do these things.

It took God pulling me away from my comforts of home, family, and friends for me to learn this great and valuable lesson. You do not have to be across the world to be a part of God‘s kingdom either. You can do it in your own backyard with something as simple as inviting people over and having conversations with them. What I have learned here is what I want to continue doing when I get home.

Right now for me it looks like teaching English in a university and hosting a English club. Which has now lead to me going for a walk with one of the students. To be able to know more about her and her life which will present an opportunity for me to share with her. Helping out at a kids event and letting a child paint your face. Cleaning up afterwards and doing dishes so the leaders don’t have to.

Now here’s how you can help me!

Prayer. I need all the prayer I can get out here. For strength, endurance, and wisdom to finish the last few month strong. To continue going strong at home. I also need some financial support. I am $5,800 away from reaching my goal. These funds will help me finish the last few months of my journey out here in the 10/40 window.

I ask for everyone to pray and see how God will lead you to support me.

If you feel led to support me financially you may donate here through my blog or Venmo @Elizabeth_Gravely
